Mrs. Leonard
3rd Grade

June 16, 2005

Have a fun summer!

Thank you to all my students for making my first year teaching third grade a complete pleasure. You all are so special to me and I will always remember you and treasure our times together. Be sure to keep up on your reading this summer and practice your times tables.

May God be with you always and bless you indeed!
So long for now, my little blessings from God!

Love Always,
Mrs. Leonard

Important News!

End of the Year Awards:
The End of Year Award's ceremony is a little different this year. This year it will be on June 10th, at 1:30pm in our classroom. The other teachers are also doing the awards during the day as well, but they will be having their awards right after School Family in the morning. I tried to accommodate parents with two siblings, so I am having my ceremony in the afternoon so the parents who have more than one child can see both award ceremonies. I pray that this date and time will work for you and your family. I hope to see you there.

End of the Year Class Party:
We will be having a class party on June 15th in our classroom. It will last all day. I will need donations of snacks/treats for the kids, so I will have a sign-up sheet by my door for anyone who can contribute.

The Last of Third Grade:
The last day of school is June 16th and it is a minimum day. We will get out of school at 12:15pm.

Our Last Spelling Test:
Spelling: List 34 (NOT List 33)
Test: Friday, June 10th.

Reading: Book Report
Final Book Report due no later than Monday, June 13th. Please follow the instructions from the format I gave you.

Bible: Psalm 135:13-18
Bible memory test on the verse will be June 10th.

Have a terrific weekend!

God Bless,
Mrs. Leonard

Week of May 23rd-May 27th

It was so nice to see all of you again at Open House.

The kids worked very hard to achieve the success they did that night. You should be very proud of your child. I know I am.

The following link is about the solar system which we are currently learning about in class. Copy and paste the URL to your browser and go onto this sight and search for the answers to the questions I gave your child. This is an internet scavenger hunt. Some chose to participate and some did not. So, if your child doesn't have the questions, he/she did not want to do it.

Remember to look at your child's checklist; it gives all the classwork we are doing for the week.

Spelling: List #31
Test: Friday, May 27th

Reading: The Whipping Boy
We will finish the book this week. They will continue working in their workbook on the vocabulary words and the comprehension questions. Then, they will start reading an approved book for their upcoming book report.

Writing: Book Report
They will begin reading their book so they can write their book report. I will go over the requirements and step by step instructions on how to do a book report with the students next week. I am going to have them follow the same book report format the fourth graders do in their class. It will prepare them for the monthly book reports they will have to do next year.

Math:
The fourth grade math book is going very well. We have been doing one lesson a day and the alternate days, we have been doing math drills and spending time going over the math problems from the day before. It is working out great. They will be very ready for the math curriculum next year.

Science: The Solar System
Hopefully we will finish the planet models this week. It is a very, very messy project and it takes a while to set-up and clean-up. The kids are having a blast making the planets though.

Bible: Psalms 135:13-18
We have a new verse. It is Psalms 135:13-18. Each child received a copy of the verse for them to study from, but if you need more copies, I have them in my class. The Bible verse test is on June 10th. This will be our last Bible verse of the year.

I hope that all of you have a terrific weekend. It's going to be a hot one! Wear sunscreen! :)

God Bless!
Love,
Mrs. Leonard
