Just a reminder that CCA Library continues to be open after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Parents are invited to come by with their children. An occassional visit is recommended as it usually takes some parental encouragement for the child to be successful with the Accelerated Reader Program.
When the semester ends, reports on the Accelerated Reader Program will be run. Students still have time to read and test on books. AR awards will be handed out Jan 28 or Feb 4.
Students will receive an Indenpendent Reader Award Certificate for earning 10 AR points. This takes reading at least 20 easy books. If scores are not high enough reading more books is required to earn the award. A few students usually do it by the end of 1st grade.
By 4th grade every student should have achieved this award plus any number of the the following other awards:
Super Reader Award 15 points, but 3 of the books must be 1.0 point or higher (rather than the E books at 0.5.)
Advanced Reader Award 20 points but at least 3 of the books are 2 points or higher.
Star Reader Award 100 points but at least 3 of the books are 4th grade reading level or higher.
Point awards are given at 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 300, 400, and 500
